ObjectiveTo assess the effectiveness of acupuncture for treatment of pseudobulbar palsy due to wind stroke.
MethodsAccording to the requirement of evidence - based medicine, acupuncture, moxibustion, pseudobulbar palsy, etc. were selected as subject words to retrieve the relative medical database at home, and clinically randomized controlled trials were used as enrolled criteria, and the treatment group was treated with the main therapy of acupuncture, and the control group with medicine, the total effective rate and cured rate for pseudobulbar palsy were used as assessment indexes. Altogether 52 papers were enrolled. Among them 7 papers were conducted for Meta - analysis by RevMan 4. 2.
Results The total RR was 173 with 95% CI [1. 37,2. 20] of the total effective rate in the 7 studies; and the total RR was 3. 30 with 95% CI [2. 07,5. 25] of the cure rate in the 7 studies; Each index in the acupuncture group on pseudobulbar palsy was superior to that of the western medicine (P <0.01).
Conclusions Acupuncture therapy for pseudobulbar palsy is effective, but more highly-quality studies are required to prove this viewpoint.
