We treated 278 cases of bronchiectasic hemoptysis with point injection of Herba Houttuynia solution. The injected points, among which Kongzui (LU6) was the main point, were selected according to the differentiation of syndromes. As a result, 217 cases were improved, 40 markedly cured, 40 markedly improved, 12 improved and 9 not improved. The total effective rate reached 95.5%.

“Treatment of hemorrhoids by acupuncture of Kongzui (LU 6)” has been considered to be an example of new discovery in current clinical acupuncture practice and has produced a significant influence on domestic and foreign textbooks of acupuncturology and the health care of the people. After comprehensively analyzing this known saying, it was found that the so-called “new discovery” which has been inherited for decades of years is in fact derived from incorrect dissemination, being lack of evidence of both literature and clinical practice.

The change of pulmonary hemotachogram before and after smoking were detected in 50 healthy adults and then the effect of acupuncture on Kongzui point (LU6) on them was observed. Results showed that smoking decreased effective pulmonary circulatory blood volume in the lung, leading insufficient supply of blood and oxygen to the lung tissue, further affecting cardiac and pulmonary functions and producting a series of diseases in the heart and the lung. Thus people should stop smoking. After acupuncture at Kongzui point, the pulmonary blood flow state could be improved in time with a better regulatory effect, which plays a role of protecting the heart and the lung. Therefore, Kongzui point is one of effective points of stopping smoking.
